Win

A before and after shot of a happy supporter. John flew down to Melbourne for the game which was a nail biter. A two point win over the Swans was terrific.

Walking club

From top - John Tebbutt Observatory, St Matthew Anglican Church, Macquarie Arms Hotel, The Rectory, me near Hawkesbury River where we had lunch, Fitzroy Cottage 1879, the walking group on the court steps.
After a quiet Thursday of cooking etc, on Friday I left home at 7.20 am and returned at 6pm. 13 of us spent the day travelling by public transport to Windsor, then walking about the historic town and along the river approx 8km in all. It was a great day as you can see from the photos.

2 Libraries

I only stayed for the meeting part of Probus on Monday and after paying the fee for a tour of the Rocks area in early June and before morning tea or the guest speaker arrived, I decided to leave.
The movies - Robin Hood and Letters to Juliette I saw on Tuesday were good. Guess who sat behind me - Sylvia and I couldnt belive it, she made comments during the movie to her sister.
Peter Fitzsimons - author/journalist gave an hour talk at Hurstville library and he was very entertaining. We met Wilma there and gave her a lift home.
Today a visit to the Stanton Library in North Sydney was interesting. I've never been on the train going over the Harbour Bridge before, but couldn't see much, as it pelted down all day. After the Writers Festival many authors are still in Sydney and John Connelly (Irish) and Peter Robotham (Aussie)- mystery - they chatted for over an hour and I really enjoyed it.

Do you think Hawthorn won?

Retail therapy

Today we visited the DFO centre and had a slow start at the therapy but once it began, there was no stopping us. We were there early so there were few people but it soon grew and so did our bags. John likes the wide choices of shop plus it had very spacious walking areas.

Writers Festival - Thur/Fri

Margaret and I spent the day at Walsh Bay in the Sydney Dance Co. rooms with sessions lasting an hour and having half hour breaks. It was longer than a working day. We had a wonderful day hearing authors talk about their books; the writing of them; short readings from some; tales of how ideas came.
On Friday Pat and I went to the ABC television studios for the filming of the next - 1st Tuesday Book Club. Two authors, 2 panelists lead by Jennifer Byrne discussed a number of books. It was interesting how the tv session was made and maybe a flash of us might be on, so watch out.

Helen's 70th

We celebrated Helen's 70th on Saturday even though its not till tomorrow, at Vabys, on the corner of Stoney Creek and King Georges Roads. It was nice to get 11 of us together for 4 hours.

Monday was the beginning of the Writers Festival and went to The Mint building where author Peter Doyle spoke about his books on Crooks Like Us. It was on The Rocks, Culture & Heritage, non-fiction crime.

It rained very very heavily on Tuesday which meant John could not work as they are working on a roof, so we went to the movies. An Aussie movie - I Love You Too - It was funny and entertaining.

Today went to have another 45 min computer lesson at the Seniors Club and slowly am shown things I did not know. No lesson next week as its their AGM and as I am not an official club member do not have to attend.

First walk with group

This morning I joined the walking group from U3A which I had enrolled in January. Todays walk was approx. 4km in Oatley Park with us going around Jewfish Bay and stopping for morning tea and then lunch later. In the photo you can see Como bridge in the background. The next walk in 2 weeks is to Windsor, walking about town and along river. I had a lovely day meeting new people plus having a great walk. The castle like structure is still standing and it bought back memories that it was very nice spot for a very special wedding photo shoot.

Toms in May

Isn't it wonderful, tomatoes in mid May. There are two plants of unknown origin with fruit that is developing nicely. There are no fruit fly at this time of year, so I hope in another week, will be able to pick a couple. There is a third plant with fruit the size of Tom Thumbs and have been harvesting them over the last week. You just cannot beat the taste of a home grown tomato.

A man's work is never done

After going up to the shopping centre to order my new glasses, we drove to Oatley to see where I will meet the walking group people on Friday. On a return home John changed into his best working gear and mowed the lawns.
I went to the library for a computer lesson on the internet and then the next day to the Senior Citizens computer club which will be a weekly lesson on Word and then onto photography.
Wilma has just retired and I was able to spend a day with her here at home. We spent some time on the computer looking up National Archives for information on her arrival in Aust in '51.
Pat and I walked a few miles along Ramsgate beach one morning last week. Now the mornings are getting to chilly for early beach walks.
Listened to Ray Martin speak for an hour on his new book plus some other stories of his life. He was very entertaining.
My most disappointing happening was - I had a cake with 4 candles, matches and was ready to sing Happy Birthday to Lucy but my computer connection in Skype did not work. I think I need a new one.
