Sunday 28th

On Monday after the dentist I treated myself and went to the movies. Saw Shutter Island and enjoyed the movie that has a twist at the end.
Thursday I spent the morning at Rockdale library and heard Katherine Howell introduce her new book - Cold Justice and gave an intro into her background which was that she was for 15 years an ambulance paramedic and a number of her experiences do appear in her books. She has almost finished her 4th book of which I havent read any yet. When I visit Hurstville library in a couple of weeks I will have a look.
John didnt work on Friday so off we went to the Dendy to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. It was excellent even though we both had read the book.
Today we drove down to Thirrool for their beach festival and spent a couple of hours wandering thru the market stalls and along the beach. We bought the two metal birds which will live under the gum tree. Very nice day.

Parcels in the mail

Something to read, eat and drink plus a magnet of Portugal came in the post on Monday. Thank you. I made a pig of myself by eating 3 'pigs', 2 'cows' and 2 'sheep', they were lovely but the sugar read went up a bit. I am reading books from the library (PD Martin - mystery/thriller) and have two more to go before I start on Deaver, one of my favourites.

This week

During the week I went to see two movies at the Dendy - The Hurt Locker and The Blind Side. Two different types of movies and both very good.

I had a two hour lesson on Google held at the Hurstville library on Thursday and learnt a little. There is always someone in the class who either knows everything so is so behind that they repeat questions. Well in this class of 3, one asked so many repetitious questions it got boring.

John had Friday off so we went to the Mitchell Library to see the exhibition 'One Hundred' and it was excellent. www.sl.nsw.gov.au It was a collection marking Mitchell Library 100 years on by displaying 100 major items ie. books, manuscripts, pictures and miscellaneous object connected with the origins of Australia.

Yesterday I went to the gardening group which again had one person who dominated alot of the time by talking about herself. Next time to be better.

Cucumbers

The plants started at the end of January and as you can see how small the plants started off and what the plants look like now, with one of the result next to an average size tomato. You cannot beat a freshly picked cucumber. They will only last a couple of weeks so enjoying them now, so are the neighbours.

BBQ

John really likes his new BBQ

I feel better now

The past three weeks, healthwise, were awful with coughing, not sleeping and so after xrays and scans, the results were double pneumonia but it was caught early and NOW its all over. I feel well and ready to do things.
Yesterday I went to the gardening meeting at Carrs Park thru U3A and enjoyed the company of 8 other people and the talk was vegetables. Next gathering is in 2 weeks.

Down the coast

Today we drove to Thirroul as we read there was to be a fair but unless we got the date wrong or we were too early, nothing was happening so we ventured on. We were going to stop at Dapto Markets but again, the traffic was terrible and so we continued further down south. Reached Berry and walked about their markets but they were very poor with many vacant plots and really the amount of people were very low. I bought the necklace and earrings I'm wearing plus some green olives and olive oil. A little wander and then back to Kiama for a late fish and chip lunch.
