A couple of days at the Writers Festival was great, hearing new and established authors speak about their books and their experiences which influence their books. The only drawback was the crowds of people which this year seemed to have grown. Missed a couple of sessions due to over crowding which I will be aware of next year.

Over the past week I've been on two walks. The one with the other group, was from Redfern Station, thru the suburb to Newtown passing three community gardens. The top photo is in the middle of Redfern which I had pictured and old and run down but it was the opposite in most of the streets we walked. Charlie who runs one of the community gardens had put up many signs which are helpful for people who are learning to
garden.
The second walk I was the leader from Huntleys wharf to Meadowbank which I had prewalked with John a few months ago. It was again, a lovely day and 16 of us enjoyed the 10 ks.
I went to the SMSA and heard a talk on searching for gold in the New Guinea in the 1930's, very interesting. After that I walked down to the Quay to the Dendy and saw the movie The Way. It was on the Camino de Santiago which would be a great walk from France to Spain, the scenery was fantastic.

Last week people from the two walking groups combined and went to lunch at The Apprentice which is the TAFE restaurant where we had a great 3 course meal, The student who were the cook, waiter and waitresses were supervised by a number of teachers and I must say it was realy good.
We didn't go to the Easter show as the Hawkesbury Show is, we feel, better. I patted an alpaca and I could have taken him home plus many of the other animals we saw. John liked the Clysdales but they frightened me as they are so big. It was a beautiful day and we had lots of fun.

Today we drove out to the botanic gardens at Mount Annan for the food and wine festival. It was great weather and there were many peoples selling their wares plus lots of food and wine stalls. There was a jazz band playing and while we were wandering in the gardens there were roaming musicians and singers. A nice lunch finished our day there and its an easy drive home.
